This administration then indicated that “20 aerial targets were shot down”. According to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, a 19-year-old man was injured by shards of glass in Desnyanskyi district and taken to hospital. The alert was lifted about three hours later.
The strikes on New Year’s Eve left four people dead, according to Ukrainian authorities. Bombings shortly before and after the transition to 2023, on kyiv and seven other regions, left at least four dead and 50 injured, according to Ukrainian authorities. For its part, Moscow claimed to have targeted unmanned aircraft manufacturing facilities. Russian forces carried out dozens of strikes in Ukraine on New Year’s night and Sunday, the Ukrainian military said.
Ukraine claims to have shot down 45 drones launched by Russia. The Ukrainian Air Force said on Sunday that it intercepted Iranian-made drones launched by Russia during New Year’s Eve. “During the night of December 31, 2022 to January 1, 2023, Russian invaders attacked Ukraine with Iranian-made Shahed-131/136 kamikaze drones”said the Ukrainian Air Force. According to her, 13 of these drones were shot down before midnight and 32 after the passage in 2023. The Ukrainian army did not specify whether other drones had hit their targets.
