Second straight shutout for Antti Raanta in Hurricanes win
Antti Raanta stopped 19 shots for a second straight shutout as the Carolina Hurricanes beat the Florida Panthers 4-0 on Friday night.
It was the 17e shutout of Raanta’s career, which had given nothing to the Chicago Blackhawks, on Tuesday.
Stefan Noesen, Andrei Svechnikov and Teuvo Teravainen hit the target on the power play. Jesperi Kotkaniemi scored the Hurricanes’ fourth goal just 10 seconds after another power play ended.
Brett Burns and Seth Jarvis both had two assists for the Hurricanes, who posted 10e straight win, which is a team record.
The Hurricanes have amassed at least one point in their last 16 games, which is another team record.
The Panthers were shut out for the first time this season and lost for the fourth time in their last five outings. They had scored seven goals the day before, against the Montreal Canadiens.
Spencer Knight concluded the clash with 30 saves.

Jack Hughes and Nico Hischier help Devils beat Penguins 4-2
Jack Hughes scored twice as the New Jersey Devils edged the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-2 on Friday night.
Nico Hischier added a shorthanded goal for the Devils, who had lost their last games and eight of their last 10.
The New Jersey squad, however, is 19-3-2 when Hischier gets a point and 11-4-1 when Hughes threads the needle.
Dougie Hamilton was the Devils’ other scorer as Vitek Vanecek saved 25 pucks in the win.
Despite their recent setbacks, the Devils claim a 13-2-1 road record this season, second best in the NHL.
