The Swiss maintained his dazzling form by dominating a super-G on one of the toughest courses in the Alpine Skiing World Cup on Thursday.
Running in sunny conditions under blue skies, Odermatt didn’t have the fastest start but outclassed its rivals on every other section of the icy and demanding Stelvio track. Even a moment of insecurity, when he had to regain his balance after hitting a door with his right arm, didn’t really bother him.

Odermatt looked impressed at the finish, seeing he was leading by 2.26 seconds.
Austrian Vincent Kriechmayr finished second 0.64 seconds behind Odermatt, a day after the super-G world champion won a downhill at the same spot.
Switzerland’s Loïc Meillard finished third 1.22 seconds behind to get his 11e career podium in the World Cup, but his first in super-G.
“It was a great team performance with Loïc also on the podium and Stefan (Rogentin), Gino (Caviezel) and Justin (Murisier) in the top 15,” said Odermatt.
Aleksander Aamodt Kilde placed eighth. The Norwegian, second overall, saw his deficit against his Swiss rival increase to 329 points.
After 14 of 38 events this season, Odermatt has amassed 946 points, making him a strong contender to break the men’s record for most World Cup points in a single season.
The 2000 mark was established by Austrian Hermann Maier 13 years ago.
Among women, Slovenian Tina Maze (2414 points in 2013) and American Mikaela Shiffrin (2204 points in 2019) have collected more points in a season.
The race was halted for 10 minutes as a dog ran along the course.
In the Canadian clan, James Crawford finished sixth, Riley Seger 15eJeffrey Read 17eBroderick Thompson 33eCameron Alexander 34e and Brodie Seger 38e.
The World Cup will continue with a slalom in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Germany next Wednesday.
