11 train cars derail in Alberta

(Taber) A Canadian Pacific train derailed in Alberta, near Taber, a small town about 260 kilometers southeast of Calgary.


Eleven cars derailed at various locations along Highway 3 between Highway 26 and Range Roads 163 and 162, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) said in a news release Wednesday.

The Canadian Pacific Railway police are still on the scene with traffic control services. Traffic on Highway 3 has been rerouted as cleanup continues.

The RCMP reported no injuries or spills of dangerous goods.

An RCMP spokeswoman said she did not know the contents of the derailed cars.
