Kathy Whitworth dies aged 83

(Washington) Former American golf champion Kathy Whitworth, record holder for most victories on the North American Professional Women’s Tour (LPGA) with 88 titles, died Saturday at the age of 83, announced Saturday the LPGA on his Twitter account.


“Kathy Whitworth passed away suddenly on Saturday evening, December 24, while waking up on Christmas Eve with friends,” the LPGA said in a statement posted to its Twitter account.

Kathy Whitworth had shown great longevity, winning at least one title on the LPGA Tour for seventeen years in a row, between her first on July 8, 1962 and her 80e on September 10, 1978. She had won another eight more, the last of which was on May 12, 1985, at the age of 51.
