Recently interviewed by Le Monde, the artist also returned to an event that he will probably never forget: The day he went to prison. At the time, Jean-Jacques Debout drank too much… A bad habit which cost him his driving licence, which did not prevent him from taking his car after spending the evening with intermittents du spectacle. Unfortunately for him, this irresponsible decision earned him an accident and a passage behind bars. Sentenced to two months in prison for driving without a license while intoxicated, he was then sent to Health. An environment that will finally please him a lot since he will find it difficult to leave.
“I was put in the cell liberated that morning by Maurice Papon, and I got cards so I wouldn’t have to put my head in the same place as him. In fact, prison saved me. I needed an intermission in my life, I got it”, he confided. In the middle of a heat wave, he took advantage of the cool walls of the prison, but also of his new friends. “I was so well that on the day of my release, I asked to stay for another week. Without success… But I left like this for a ride ». Holy story!
