My very dear Santa Claus,

How are you? For real. No Ho! Oh! Ho!, please, to hide your holiday blues. No, how are you really?

This simple question, Santa Claus, no one, or very few, dares to ask anyone. Weird, right?

It seems that our almost three years of pandemic, isolation, bereavements of all kinds and far too many deaths have made us fearful of being exposed to the wounds of others in addition to our own.

If the waiting lists for psychologists are overflowing as much as our poor, threadbare emergency rooms, that is surely no coincidence.

Tell me, Santa Claus, behind your legendary white beard, has the pandemic still made you look a little old? Come on, confess…

Because here on earth – far from your magical village and your elves caught up in the whirlwind of preparations for your big trip – many of us have taken on a few extra wrinkles, in body and heart.

A little love botox

That’s why, in your gift delivery, could you also think about adding some megadoses of love botox for our battered souls this year? Many thanks in advance.

I know it’s not very “hop life” as a request. My little finger tells me, however, that it would do us a lot more good than a so-called smart TV, HD, with an ultra-flat, curved screen and larger than a living room wall.

So if that’s okay with you – and take your time to write it down – nothing electronic this time around. Nothing fake. Screens of all kinds to get lost in, there are already far too many on the planet… and in our heads.

In fact, what I would like as a gift, dear Santa Claus, certainly applies to everyone: peace. Small and big. All over. To Ukraine.

We would all also take, I believe, more gentleness. Calm. Spontaneous benevolence. Of truth. Thoughtful sharing. In short, full of good and good Samaritans.

good samaritans

We would even take “how are you, for real?” Beauty. Of nature. Light. Laughter. Of love. Dance. Enveloping sunsets and stars tattooed deep in the eyes.

And don’t forget, Santa, if time permits, of course, include friendships. Old, precious ones. News, promising for the future.

If you still have a little room left in your new hybrid sled, don’t be shy about adding some nice thunderbolts either. A question of overcoming the lies and betrayals extinguishers of dreams.

Above all, Santa Claus, if you can, give us the power to say thank you. It’s so simple. When we are overwhelmed by trials and a mental load without forgiveness, we forget it too often.

You will therefore allow me, I am sure, to say a huge thank you to those who, throughout this difficult year – and often even without knowing it – have given me the gift of being my good Samaritans. .

Isn’t that, dear Santa Claus, the most beautiful of all presents? Giving of yourself costs nothing, but as my grandmother used to say, it’s worth all the gold in the world.

Your faithful admirer, again and again.

Josee
