A police operation is currently underway on Fernand-Gauthier Street, in the Rivière-des-Prairies district, in northeastern Montreal, to find one of the two perpetrators of a kidnapping that occurred Thursday morning in Laval.
Around 9:40 a.m., calls were made to 911 for a person who was forced into a vehicle in the Center Laval parking lot, located on Le Corbusier Boulevard.
Officers dispatched to the scene received a description of the suspects and their vehicle, and quickly spotted them near the mall.
A chase immediately began. Suspects and police notably took Highway 25 to around Fernand-Gauthier Street, in the Rivière-des-Prairies district of Montreal.
One of the two suspects, an individual in his thirties, was quickly arrested. The victim, a 59-year-old man, was rescued and taken to hospital for evaluation.
We do not know his state of health. According to our information, it would be the owner or an employee of a jewelry store, which, however, could not confirm the spokesperson for the Laval police department, Érika Landry.
At the time of this writing, the police were still trying to nab the other suspect in the area of rue Fernand-Gauthier and boulevard Perras.
