CF Montreal selected defender Milo Garvanian in the second round of the MLS SuperDraft on Wednesday.
Garvanian is 22 years old and a native of Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was chosen at 54e rank. He appeared in all 19 games for the University of North Carolina Tar Heels last season and tied for first on the team with four goals and as many assists.
CF Montreal traded their first-round pick earlier in the day in the trade that landed them defenseman Aaron Herrera from Real Salt Lake.
In the third round, CF Montreal drafted defender Ousman Jabang at 75e rank and goalkeeper Nick Christoffersen at 83e rank.
Jabang, who is a native of McDonough, Georgia, played at Mercer University.
Christoffersen, on the other hand, hails from Toronto and was the captain for the University of Pennsylvania. In 18 games, he topped the Ivy League with a 0.73 GAA and a .788 save percentage.
In addition, Montrealer Moïse Bombito, a fullback playing at the University of New Hampshire, was selected third in the SuperDraft by the Colorado Rapids.
Bombito was named the America East’s Most Outstanding Defenseman and an NCAA Second Team All-Star after helping his team rank third across the United States with a 0 goals-against-average ,5.
He also provided four goals for the Wildcats, who had 11 shutouts during the season.
Bombito was one of eight players named to Generation Adidas before the draft. These players do not count in the calculation of the salary bills of MLS teams.
Toronto forward Stephen Afrifa was picked eighth overall by Sporting Kansas City.
Malcolm Johnston became the third Canadian to be selected in the first round, when New York City FC picked him in the 26e rank. He is the younger brother of Alistair Johnston, who recently transferred from CF Montreal to Celtic FC.
