In all likelihood, Mario Cecchini will not be back as president of the Montreal Alouettes next year.
According to journalist Herb Zurkowsky, of The GazetteCecchini’s contract, which will expire on December 31, would not have been renewed.
Cecchini, like general manager Danny Maciocia, was hired in January 2020, after the club was bought by Sid Spiegel, who died in July 2020, and his stepson Gary Stern. Under Cecchini, home game attendance has increased from 13,063 in 2021 to 17,683 in 2022.
Interviewed on the show sports fanson 98.5 FM, at the end of November, Maciocia said he would feel “hurt” if Cecchini was not back next season.

Also according to Herb Zurkowski, the Alouettes’ assistant coach, André Bolduc, would now be the running backs coach and ground game coordinator for the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
Recall that the Sparrows announced Saturday the hiring of their new head coach, Jason Maas. A press conference is scheduled for Tuesday; the Alouettes’ invitation mentions the presence of Maciocia, but not that of Cecchini.
