(LONDON) London Knights center Abakar Kazbekov has died, team and Ontario Junior Hockey League officials announced on Saturday.
No other information was disclosed.
The 18-year-old forward from Moscow played in the team’s game on Friday, which the Knights won 5-2 at home against the Owen Sound Attack.
Kazbekov had been with the Knights since the start of the 2021-2022 season. So far this season, he’s had one assist in 12 games.
Knights executives and OHL officials have announced Saturday’s game against the Flint Firebirds has been postponed.
The Ontario Hockey League also announced the postponement of two other games on Saturday, the one between the Erie Otters and the Saginaw Spirit and the one to oppose the Kingston Frontenacs to the Peterborough Petes, “out of sensitivity towards several people. involved in these matches which were close” to Kazbekov.
