In an interview given to the magazine “Ciné Télé Revue”, on December 15, Michel Fugain does not mince his words and does not hesitate to criticize openly – and free of charge – the new talents of French music who, according to him, “ don’t know how to make popular songs”. Worse, at the microphone of RTBF, the interpreter of “C’est un beau roman” had unscrupulously crushed all the current young generation: “I think there is a band of little idiots in there – and I am weighing my words – who have the impression that they know how to do everything, that they know everything. And they are wrong, because they know very little. Do they know that we have heard wonders, us, for years? How do they feel like they’re going to put us on our ass? They don’t know how to make melodies. They don’t know how to talk about anything other than their navel!” Before adding as a final punch: “For me, Benjamin Biolay is the worst…”. Exasperated by the bitter criticism of the man from the Big Bazaar, the singer-songwriter had wanted to respond to him from his Instagram account on November 27: “I don’t like what you’re doing, Mr. Michel Fugain either, but I don’t feel obliged to harass you through the press since 2008”, he then addresses the man he calls “Mimi La Fugue”.
“It doesn’t speak to me more than rap!”
Visibly calmed down vis-à-vis the interpreter of “Rends l’amour”, Michel Fugain has therefore very recently decided to tackle another singer, in the person of… Julien Doré! Known to the general public since 2007 and his victory at the tele-hook “Nouvelle Star”, the artist who is now 40 years old, has long made people smile with his improbable looks, his barrette in his hair, his used ukulele… and has had to endure a number of mockeries until his talent burst out brilliantly throughout his albums and his hits such as “Les Limites”, “Côco Caline”, “Paris-Seychelles” or more recently “Coup de vieux” in the company of Big Flo & Oli. A success and a talent that seem to completely escape Michel Fugain who, still according to our Belgian colleagues from “Ciné Télé Revue”, was not kind to the artist from Gard. Not only did he make fun of “his long hair” but assured that about his creations: “It doesn’t speak to me more than rap! It lacks emotion”. And Louise Bourgoin’s ex, famous on social networks for his quirky humour, was quick to retaliate! In a story on his Instagram account, Julien Doré covers one of Fugain’s favorite songs, “Fais comme l’oiseau”… “I don’t don’t believe it, I don’t believe it anymore, I’m lost. Do like the bird. It lives on pure air and fresh water, a bird.” Do we hear… An excerpt from the piece set right on a video showing his detractor falling pitifully from the stage where he was singing! On good terms…
