The unvaccinated still at the top of new cases in Quebec

The unvaccinated are still at the top of new cases and new hospitalizations in Quebec.

Nearly a million adult Quebecers have still not received a dose of the vaccine. This minority monopolizes the lion’s share of new cases of coronavirus infections.

The rate of infection is over 20 cases per 100,000 for this segment of the unimmunized population, while in vaccinated individuals the rate is around 4 cases per 100,000.

In other words, people who are not vaccinated are 3.6 times more likely to contract COVID-19 than people who are properly vaccinated.

In addition, the vaccination of children is going well. About 20,000 young people aged 5 to 11 have been receiving a dose every day since the start of this phase of the immunization campaign. Nearly 70,000 of them have received a first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and 136,264 are awaiting their appointment.

More than 85% of Quebecers over 5 years of age are now adequately vaccinated.
