Reporters reportedly covered topics relating to platform owner Elon Musk, as Ben Collins, reporter for “NBC News” reported in a tweet.

Among those suspended, we find Donie O’Sullivan of “CNN”, Drew Harwell of the “Washington Post” and Ryan Mac of the “New York Times”.

“Elon says he is a champion of free speech and he suspends journalists for enforcing it. I think it calls into question his commitment,” Harwell told CNN.

Freelance journalist Aaron Rupar’s account has also been suspended.

The suspensions come after Twitter deactivated an account belonging to competitor Mastodon, which had tweeted about the @ElonJet account. The latter had himself been banned from the platform on Wednesday because he was tracking Musk’s private plane.
