Former Montreal Canadiens first-round pick Michael McCarron has signed up for the National Hockey League (NHL) and Players Association assistance program.

This is what the circuit announced on Sunday. McCarron will therefore be removed from the entourage of the Nashville Predators until proven otherwise. The program allows players to fight against problems of addiction and mental health, in particular.
Selected 25th in the 2013 NHL Draft, McCarron never managed to establish himself in the Habs’ roster despite his large size (6’6″ and 232 lbs). But since he was traded to the Predators in return for Laurent Dauphin in January 2020, the situation has changed. He notably played 51 games in 2021-2022 – a career high – amassing seven goals and 14 points while showing a differential of +10.
This season, he has scored once and assisted in another goal in 15 outings.
In his career with both organizations, the 27-year-old American has totaled 10 goals, 24 points and 213 penalty minutes in 141 games.
