The Perigord Facsimile workshops worked for three years to identically copy the Lascaux cave. Painters, plastics technicians, resin workers, moulders, locksmiths and welders make up the AFSP team. These different trades took turns to create the support for the wall with its metal structure, its material, its designs …
A work carried out in Montignac in the Atelier des Fac-Similés du Périgord (AFSP) by the team of Francis Rigenbach, artistic and production director on the project. We had to adapt to the many constraints, from creation (reproduction of colors, materials), through tests (climatic, solidity of the structure), to the transport of large-scale parts … All these steps, to , that at the end, visitors can admire as closely as possible the wall and the paintings which appear on this exact copy of the Lascaux Cave. Precise and precious execution, a technological and artistic feat achieved in Dordogne.
