France continued on their way to defending their FIFA World Cup title in Qatar by beating England 2-1 in the quarter-finals on Saturday in Al Khor.

It was not easy for the Blues, who conceded two penalty kicks to the English, and a very dangerous free kick in the last moments of the meeting. After having managed one to level the mark in the 54th minute of play, Harry Kane faltered on the second “penalty”, with six minutes left in regular time.
This shot, well above the frame, allowed the French to breathe again. Olivier Giroux had just, a few moments before, given them the lead by redirecting with a header a very nice ball centered by Antoine Griezmann.
Aurélien Tchouaméni scored the first of Didier Deschamps’ men in the 17th minute. His curling strike got the better of Jordan Pickford in the lower part.
In the semi-finals, the French will face the Moroccans on Wednesday.
