We’ve been hearing a lot of negative things about the restaurant industry for a few years now: labor shortages, difficult working conditions, customers who don’t honor their reservations, etc. Bruno Florin, he decided to show the positive in his documentary web series The restaurant afterbroadcast on Radio-Canada’s Mordu platform.
The director obviously does not hide the difficulties that Quebec restaurateurs are going through, but he does feature players in the field – chefs, sommeliers, etc. – who have taken advantage of the pandemic to practice their profession differently.
We end the viewing of the six short episodes with a lot of admiration for the resilience of these valiant men and women who knew how to question themselves, then impose their healthier way of doing things, for the rest of things.
