(Calgary) The Los Angeles Kings have loaned defenseman Brandt Clarke to Junior Team Canada for the 2023 World Junior Hockey Championship selection camp.
Clarke, who was selected eighth overall in the 2021 draft, has two assists in nine games for the Kings this season.
Clarke had two goals and five assists in seven games at the 2021 World Under-18 Championship, helping Canada win gold.
Hockey Canada hopes to add another NHL player to its roster for the tournament. Seattle Kraken center Shane Wright, the fourth overall pick in the 2022 draft, is still waiting to hear if he will be loaned out.
Canada opens its selection camp on Friday in Moncton, New Brunswick.
The World Junior Hockey Championship gets underway Dec. 26 in Moncton and Halifax.
