Hospitalizations linked to COVID-19 have continued their slow progression in the last hours, but it is especially in terms of cases that we notice the biggest increase.
According to the latest government report released on Wednesday, 1,718 new cases have been recorded, a long-time high. And this is only the tip of the iceberg, since the screening centers are reserved for priority clienteles.
At least 130 positive cases detected by rapid tests must be added.
The positivity rate is 11.6%.
The increase was more modest on the side of hospitalizations, which are however close to the 2000 mark. As of Wednesday, 1,974 patients with COVID-19 were in hospital, including 647 due to the disease. This is an increase of 15 from the previous day.
In intensive care, however, there is a drop of two, bringing the total to 51 people, including 26 who are being treated specifically for the disease.
Nearly 4,000 healthcare workers are still on hold due to COVID-19.
Authorities also reported six new deaths, three of which occurred in the past 24 hours. Three more of the deaths occurred two to seven days ago.
Since the start of the pandemic, 17,415 Quebecers have succumbed to the disease.
For vaccination, 15,427 Quebecers had received a dose of vaccine on Tuesday. According to the government’s dashboard, 31% of adults are up to date with their vaccinations, meaning they have had a dose for less than five months.
