(Montreal) Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy has submitted to NFL COVID-19 health protocols and will miss Thursday’s game against the New Orleans Saints.
McCarthy will participate in all meetings virtually and take care of the preparation of the game plan. He is the sixth member of the coaching or support staff to have missed a game due to COVID.
The team did not immediately say who would serve as interim head coach.
The Cowboys fell victim to a COVID outbreak during the pre-season schedule and the start of the season. They had a month’s break before any new cases emerged, starting with kicker Greg Zuerlein in early November.
Right tackle Terence Steele won’t play against the Saints either. Offensive line coach Joe Philbin and his assistant Jeff Blasko will also be absent, as will assistant attacker Scott Tolzien.
Two members of the conditioning team will not be traveling to Louisiana.
