Jacques Doucet again nominated for the Ford C. Frick Prize

Former French-language radio reporter for Montreal Expos baseball games, Jacques Doucet, is one of ten finalists for the annual Ford C. Frick Award given by the Baseball Hall of Fame to a media personality for his contribution to this sport.

Mr. Doucet has been nominated for this award in the past.

Montreal native Jacques Doucet described Expos games in French for 33 years on the radio until the team left in 2004. He later described Toronto Blue Jays games in French on television and was a baseball columnist for the Montreal Journal. At the start of his career, he had also been a journalist at The Press.

After the Expos left for Washington, he also described on the radio parts of the Capitals of Quebec, of the Can-Am League.

Jacques Doucet, 82, is a member of the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame. He was ill this year and announced his retirement from the microphone while on the TVA Sports team.

Jerry Howarth, who described Toronto Blue Jays games on the radio for 36 years, is also nominated for this year’s Ford C. Frick Award.

The winner will be announced on Wednesday.
