(Lillehammer) Quebecer Antoine Cyr took the 12e row of the 20 km classic style race, mass start, of the World Cup of cross-country skiing, Sunday in Lillehammer, Norway.
The 24-year-old athlete from Gatineau covered the distance in 48 minutes 19.6 seconds, just over five seconds behind the winner, the Norwegian Paal Golberg (48:14.5).
Olivier Léveillé, a 21-year-old Sherbrooke resident, ranked 27ein 48:24.4.
Norway monopolized the podium and placed eight of their athletes in the top 10. Sjur Roethe (48:15.4) and Martin Loewstroem Nyenget (48:15.6) completed the podium.
In the similar women’s event, Ottawa’s Katherine Stewart-Jones finished in 13e place, after stopping the clock at 54:02.1.
Quebecer Olivia Bouffard-Nesbitt (57:58.7), from Morin Heights, finished 43e.
Sweden’s Frida Karlsson finished the race in first place, clocking 53:51.9.
