(Laval) An 85-year-old pedestrian died after being hit head-on by an octogenarian motorist in Laval late Saturday afternoon.
The accident took place at the corner of Boulevard de la Concorde and Chemin de la Normandie in Laval, around 5 p.m. Saturday.
In this sector, multi-unit buildings are located on one side of boulevard de la Concorde. On the other, there are several shops including a grocery store. No traffic lights or stop signs allow pedestrians to cross the four lanes separated by a median strip of the boulevard, according to satellite images.
According to information from Lieutenant Patrick Boucher of the Laval police, an 80-year-old driver hit the 85-year-old pedestrian, whom she had not seen. The victim died at the scene. “There is nothing criminal”, specifies the lieutenant.
A stage was erected on site, and it was in the process of being lifted late Saturday evening. An investigation is underway to determine the causes and circumstances of the tragedy.
