We do not know the exact nature of the injury of the 26-year-old goalkeeper, who is bothered by a problem in the lower body. According to Sportsnet, however, Demko has avoided the worst-case scenario and is expected to be sidelined for approximately six weeks.
The Californian was forced out of Thursday’s Canucks game against the Florida Panthers. In the first twenty, by allowing a third goal in less than a minute, Demko was hurt during a trip and had to forfeit.
Like the Vancouver roster, the former 2014 second-round pick is off to a rocky start to the season. He posted a .883 save percentage and a 3.93 goals-against average, in addition to winning just three of his 15 contests.
The Canucks will have to rely on the tandem of Spencer Martin and Collin Delia. They will play their next game on Saturday, when they host the Arizona Coyotes.
