Grissol Bakery in Sainte-Martine | Workers accept employer’s offer

(Montreal) The workers at Aliments Dare (Boulangerie Grissol), in Sainte-Martine, Montérégie, have just accepted the latest employer’s offer, which puts an end to the indefinite strike that was called last Sunday.

The return to work will be Friday morning, said the Union of Professional and Office Employees (SEPB), affiliated with the FTQ, which represents them.

The hundred workers accepted the latest employer’s offer in a proportion of 79%, during a general meeting held Thursday noon.

Negotiations with the employer had continued despite the announcement of the strike last Sunday and they had not ceased. An employer’s offer was tabled on Tuesday, which the union members finally accepted.

The salary issue was the main point in dispute. The union members finally obtained increases of about 17.5% over five years.

Other improvements have also been made to night and weekend bonuses, as well as holidays, said the SEPB.
