François Legault reiterated on Friday the responsibility of the government to keep a “certain fairness” in the remuneration of employees who do almost the same work in different sectors.

“Common sense tells us: it’s not badly settled on the side of educators, then support employees, they must have salaries comparable to other support employees of other networks,” he argued.

The union center, which intends to broadcast its message during prime time on the radio, on the web and from Wednesday on television, urges Quebec to give a clear mandate to the negotiators if we want to avoid the indefinite general strike.

“With this statement, we can’t believe we can’t settle this week. It seems to us to be common sense, ”reacted by press release the president of the CSQ, Éric Gingras.

For its part, the Federation of Early Childhood Workers of Quebec, affiliated to the CSQ, recalls having tabled a counter-proposal at the end of October demanding increases of 14% over three years for support staff in childcare centers.

“Common sense shows us that our proposal is extremely reasonable. On the one hand, there is a gap of 20 to 35% over a single year with the public sector for support staff and on the other, we are asking for a gradual catch-up over three years of around 14 % ”, Mentioned the president of the FIPEQ-CSQ, Valérie Grenon.

“The Prime Minister must get involved to resolve the impasse. We are available to reach an agreement quickly and avoid the closure of services for parents, ”it was added.
