The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) confirmed on Wednesday that it had arrested two young men who are believed to be linked to the murder of Bernard Cherfan, an individual linked to organized crime who was shot dead in a Laval restaurant at dinner time. , 1er last June.
SQ investigators thus arrested Tafari Bezabeh on Tuesday, in connection with this murder which had caused a stir this summer. The 19-year-old man, who is currently being held in a Toronto detention center, appeared by videoconference on Wednesday at the Laval courthouse, where he faced first-degree murder charges.
Another individual, Jalen Joel Campbell Brown, also appeared virtually in this same courthouse on Wednesday, after being first arrested yesterday in Ontario. The 21-year-old faces charges of first degree murder and being an accessory to the case.
1er Last June, this murder by firearm which occurred in an Asian restaurant on the boulevard des Laurentides, in Laval, when several people were on the premises to enjoy a meal there, had caused a commotion. An investigation was then launched by the SQ, in collaboration with the Laval police, in the hope of quickly finding the people linked to this sordid murder. The police then proceeded in the following days to the arrest of Britney Lewis, a young woman in her mid-twenties.
Bernard Cherfan was known to police because of organized crime and mafia affiliations. He was 42 years old.
