The victim’s bleeding body remained at the scene for a few hours before a walker finally discovered it and notified the authorities.

“I was watching TV and then I heard a big ‘pow’. Then I heard a car speed away,” said Estelle Saccomani, who lives on the top floor of an apartment building adjacent to the crime scene.

“I didn’t care about it at the start because we’re on the edge of the 20 here and there are often loud noises. On the other hand, I understood when I saw the large police deployment in the street, ”she adds.

Incomprehension

Several other neighbors corroborated her testimony, but like her, the majority did not believe it could actually be a gunshot.

“Looks like we don’t believe it until we see the flashing lights through the window. It’s residential here, how can such a thing happen? It was really a loud thump, like the sound of a 53-foot tire exploding, which happens a lot here, so I didn’t do anything about it,” says another resident of the building, who prefers to stay anonymous.

It was not until around 11 p.m. that the police were informed that a body was lying, bloodied, at the end of Mimosa Avenue, which is actually a cul-de-sac.

The macabre discovery was reportedly made by a man walking his dog.

As it was an obvious death, the body was not transported to a hospital center, and a crime scene was erected around it.

The young man, in his twenties, was reportedly shot in the head and had no identification evidence on him. It was therefore more difficult for the investigators to formally identify him.

Drug dealings

According to residents of the area, although it is a rather quiet and family-friendly area, it is not uncommon to see the presence of suspicious vehicles and people in this specific location.

Some claim to have already witnessed drug transactions.

Moreover, despite the fact that it is a cul-de-sac, this street would be very busy.

Students from an adult education center a stone’s throw away and other local residents and workers use it regularly to get to the nearest bus stop.

All hypotheses will be studied by major crime investigators from the Montreal police, who will try to elucidate this crime, the 35th murder to occur on their territory since the beginning of the year.
