The Sûreté du Québec has just opened an investigation into an extortion attempt of which businessman Tony Accurso has been the target since the beginning of November.
Ten days ago, four individuals, including two minors, were apprehended by police officers from the Régie de police du Lac-des-Deux-Montagnes. In the suspects’ vehicle, officers found incendiary material and police believe this time it was the businessman’s residence, not that of one of his children, that was targeted .
According to our information, in recent weeks, the businessman has received a series of threatening and unequivocal text messages from an individual or group demanding more than $100,000.
Tony Accurso met with Deux-Montagnes police investigators last week to file a complaint, but the file has been transferred to the SQ which will lead the investigation, a police source confirmed to us on condition of anonymity.
From the end of July to mid-October, the children of Tony Accurso were the targets of several misdeeds. At that time, the businessman had not yet received any threats and one of the hypotheses favored by the Deux-Montagnes police was a commercial conflict between family members.
It is not known if the misdeeds targeting the children are connected with the extortion attempt against their father or if someone or a group is trying to take advantage of the circumstances.
The wave of mischief affecting the Accurso children began in early July, when the white Range Rover SUV of Tony Accurso’s son’s wife, Giovanni, was targeted by an arsonist.
On August 24, shots were fired at the neighboring house, without causing any injuries, but everything indicates that the shooter was mistaken about the residence.
Two days later, more shots were fired, this time at Giovanni Accurso’s house.
Finally, on October 11, the residence of his daughter Lisa and Karol Fortin was completely destroyed by fire.
