The Minister of Overseaser, Sebastian Lecornu, flew to Guadeloupe Sunday 28 November. On the spot, part of the population continues to demonstrate.
Sunday, November 28, the Minister of Overseas, Sébastien Lecornu, landed in Guadeloupe. A long-awaited visit: the minister is due to meet the island’s political, union and economic players on Monday. “I hope he will be able to provide real answers and not a tongue-in-cheek and demagogic speech”, says one resident.
The vaccination obligation for caregivers was postponed to December 31, but the mobilization continued on Saturday, whether in Pointe-à-Pitre or Basse-Terre. Put forward by Sébastien Lecornu, the hypothesis of the autonomy of the island is debated. Trade unions denounce a subterfuge, believing that the social crisis should above all be resolved. In Martinique, the last nights were eventful because of the tensions still present. The Minister of Overseas Territories is due to go there on Tuesday and the question of compulsory vaccination will be on the table. Negotiations will take place in the hope of a return to calm soon.
