Alberta is expected to pass its controversial Alberta Sovereignty Act on Tuesday, allowing it to reject federal laws that go against the interests of the western province.

In a speech from the throne, the premier of Alberta, Danielle Smith, recalled the efforts that her government intends to make to fight against inflation and all the other issues that affect the people of Alberta.
“Rising inflation is impacting the ability of Albertans to support themselves and their families; our health care system is under strain; and we are fighting the unprecedented interference and excesses of the federal government in Ottawa,” she said at the outset.
