a thousand households deprived of electricity this night in Béarn and Bigorre

The snow affects the distribution of the current in the most exposed municipalities in Béarn and Bigorre! Significant amounts of snow fell over the Pyrenees on the weekend of November 28 and 29, resulting in power cuts in several homes. In all, Enedis counts a thousand households without electricity in all in Béarn and Bigorre between this Sunday November 28 in the evening and this Monday November 29 in the morning.

500 households in Béarn and 500 in Bigorre

In Béarn, 530 houses found themselves in the dark due to power cuts. The Aspe Valley sector is mainly affected, with cuts in Borce, Etsaut or Urdos. Note that 470 households in the Basque Country were also deprived of electricity during the night. The snow makes access to some towns complicated, but the Enedis teams are going there and are doing their utmost to have the problem resolved during the day. In Laruns and Eaux-Bonne, around thirty homes were deprived of electricity this weekend, and Enedis agents installed generators to help out while waiting for repairs.

In Bigorre, the Hautacam sector was the most affected. Electricity was cut in around 500 homes on the evening of Sunday, November 28, but Enedis teams were able to intervene during the night and restore power so that the houses were again supplied with power in the early morning hours.

Several roads closed in the Pyrenees

The snowfall also had consequences on the roads: several axes are closed to traffic this morning, in particular the Somport pass road, on the RN 134 by decision of the prefect, due to the orange avalanche vigilance. The departmental 441 is also closed between Lees-Athas and the Col de Labays. The Pourtalet pass has been closed since Saturday, November 27, as has the Marie Blanque pass between the Benou plateau and Escot. On the Bigorre side, the D12 between Cureille and Luz Ardiden is closed.
