Two men are accused of kidnapping and beating a young man, who ultimately turned out to be the son of a judge, in addition to trying to obtain a hefty ransom.
The traumatic episode was played on 1er November, when an 18-year-old young man was kidnapped and held captive for long hours.
The alleged victim is the son of a judge who sits in the greater Montreal area, we learned from people familiar with the case.
The one whose identity we are concealing for security reasons was allegedly beaten by his two captors.
According to our information, the young man knew them, and his abduction would not be related to his father’s functions as a magistrate.
The kidnappers would have rather acted by reprisals, concerning a misunderstanding.
During the abduction, among other things, they would have been driving around.
Ransom demanded
While the youth was being held against his will, they reportedly tried to extort money from him. In the hope of obtaining the hoard, they even tried to obtain the address of his family residence.
The sum requisitioned was several thousand dollars, we learned.
The kidnappers would also have sent ransom demands, including to a friend of the young person, according to a court document consulted by The newspaper.
The alleged victim would have been able to get out of his bad situation after several hours and return home.
Breiner Mosquera, 22, and Alehandro Nicolas-Boucher, 19, were later handcuffed by Longueuil police. They were charged with kidnapping for ransom, extortion, assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm.
Investigation and bail
They must return to court this morning to try to convince a judge to release them pending trial.
They have no criminal record in Quebec. But one of them, Alehandro Nicolas-Boucher, was then under conditions in Ontario.
A few days before the abduction, he was arrested by Durham Police officers while driving a Dodge Ram truck. The vehicle had been stolen earlier in Toronto.
The young man was charged with motor vehicle theft, possession of burglary tools and possession of property obtained by crime.
Two other Quebecers were also arrested that same day for stealing a vehicle of the same brand.
