Steelers win 24-17 over Colts

(Indianapolis) Benny Snell Jr. scored the game-winning touchdown with a two-yard run with 9:55 left in the fourth quarter and the Pittsburgh Steelers were able to stop the Colts’ late push to take the 24-17 lead from Indianapolis training on Monday.

Snell carried the ball 12 times for gains of 62 yards, his best total of the season. He replaced Najee Harris in the third quarter after Harris was ruled out at halftime with an abdominal injury.

The Steelers (4-7) earned an eighth straight win over the Colts and tied all 49ers of San Francisco for the most Monday Night Game wins in NFL history (52). The 49ers took the lead with a win last week over the Arizona Cardinals in Mexico City.

Matt Ryan led the Colts (4-7-1) in scoring position, but they let a minute slip away in three plays in Steelers territory, eventually using their first stoppage time on a fourth down with 30 seconds remaining.

Subsequently, Ryan’s handover to Parris Campbell was not completed and the Colts fell to a 1-2 record under interim head coach Jeff Saturday.

It was the Colts’ first home game on a Monday night since September 2015 and the first half was a miss.

The Steelers drove into Colts territory on all five possessions and produced three field goals and a 6-yard touchdown from Harris to take a 16-3 lead.

Pickett completed 20 of 28 passes for 174 yards and caused no turnovers for the Steelers. His counterpart, Ryan, threw for 199 yards and a touchdown. One of his passes, however, was intercepted.
