Last spring, Daniel Elena had already been excluded from the Dakar by the Prodrive team. Sébastien Loeb will have as co-pilot the Belgian Fabian Lurquin. A decision which had aroused the anger of the Monegasque and which played in his choice to definitively put an end to a fruitful collaboration of nearly a quarter of a century with Sébastien Loeb.
“It’s a book that closes, Daniel Elena explained in a video posted on his Facebook page. The story of March didn’t do any collateral damage, but it made me see my future differently. The motivation to get back into a racing crate is gone, yet I am very passionate about it “.
“Our friendship is intact, we are both reunited to avoid the pataquès of March”, asserts the co-pilot of the Alsatian champion.
Besides their nine world titles in WRC, Sébastien Loeb and Daniel Elena have also finished on the Dakar podium twice (in 2017 and 2019).
