Cross-country skiing | Quebecers shine in Ruka

Quebecers Antoine Cyr and Olivier Léveillé both finished in the top 20 in the 15 km freestyle pursuit on Sunday morning at the World Cup in Ruka, Finland.

After placing at 11e rank of the 15 km classic on Saturday, Cyr continued his momentum on Sunday by seizing the 12e place in a time of 36 min 22.5 s.

Olivier Léveillé, who is only in his first World Cup for seniors, took the 17e rank by completing the race in 36 min 24.4 s. The day before he had finished 30e of the classic 15 km, collecting his first points on the circuit.

Canadian Russell Kennedy also did very well, concluding at 21e rank. Russians Alexander Bolshunov (35 min 23.7 s), Sergey Ustiugov (35 min 24.2 s) and Artem Maltsev (35 min 24.4 s) were on the podium.

In women, Quebecers Katherine Stewart-Jones and Cendrine Browne also shone, making their place in the top 30 in the 10 km freestyle pursuit. Stewart-Jones finished 21e (28:40.8), while Browne took the 28e row (29 min 56.1 s).
