Raptors 122 – Hawks 124 | Hawks narrowly beat Raptors

(Atlanta) Trae Young made a long pass to AJ Griffin for a stride shot on the last play of overtime and the Atlanta Hawks beat the Toronto Raptors 124-122 on Saturday night.


Young had 29 points and 10 assists for the Hawks. De’Andre Hunter added 21 points while Clint Capela had 18 points and 13 rebounds.

Young had two free throws with just 59 seconds left in regulation time, giving the Hawks a lead for the first time since midway through the third quarter.

The Raptors led 108-101 with 2:36 left in the fourth quarter. The Hawks scored 10 unanswered points in a 90-second span to take a 111-109 lead.

The Torontonians had a great chance to win late in the fourth quarter, but Scottie Barnes missed a stride shot and then his tap as the final seconds ticked away.

Griffin scored eight points in overtime. Hunter missed two free throws that would have confirmed the Hawks’ victory and OG Anunoby had both free throws to tie the game 122-122.

The table was set for Griffin’s winning basket.

Barnes had a season-high 26 points, and Anunoby had 23 points for the Raptors, who were looking for a third straight win.

Toronto’s roster was down to just nine players against the Hawks, with Pascal Siakam, Precious Achiuwa, Gary Trent Jr. and Fred VanVleet all missing.
