Lessons from Trudeau and Guilbeault

The teaching of Guilbeault and Trudeau to young and old: here are the first three lessons.

Lesson noh 1. Do as I say, not as I do.

For example, limit your travel by plane and car, favor public transport (if there is any), recycle (except for ideas, they know that), etc.

Lesson noh 2. Have some nerve.

GHGs are the source of global warming, and also partly of the loss of biodiversity. Yet Mr. Guilbeault says “now is the time to make Canada the cleanest oil and gas producer in the world.” This is called squaring the circle.

Lesson noh 3. Count on Guilbeault and Trudeau to give you the facts about the drop in GHG emissions in Canada.

However, methane emissions related to permafrost thaw are not included in their calculation. Moreover, in the report Emissions reduction plan for 2030, it says “bringing low-carbon oil and gas to the world”. Really ? Especially since the majority of our oil comes from the oil sands.

In conclusion, before giving lessons to their fellow citizens, Messrs. Guilbeault and Trudeau should review their math, chemistry, biology and environment courses.

“I like the peasants, they are not learned enough to reason wrongly. —Charles de Montesquieu
