(Buffalo) New York State Governor Kathy Hochul declared a state of emergency beginning Thursday in parts of the state’s west ahead of a blizzard. potentially dangerous lake effect.
The US Weather Service predicts at least 4 feet of snow through Sunday and virtually zero visibility in some places. The hardest-hit cities, like Buffalo, could be “crippled.”
The state of emergency declared by Mr.me Hochul encompasses 11 counties. Commercial truck traffic was banned beginning at 4 p.m. Thursday on a portion of Highway 90 southwest of Buffalo.
The heaviest snowfall is expected between 7 p.m. Thursday and 7 a.m. Friday.
The US Weather Service also warns of accumulations of 60 centimeters of snow by Sunday in parts of northern Michigan.
