We are at the start of a fifth week of hearings at the Rouleau Commission, which aims to shed light on the use of the Emergencies Act during last winter’s Freedom Ride. So far, we have heard from municipal officials, provincial officials, police officers and organizers of the occupation, who have all come to detail the context in which the event took place.
After listening to dozens of hours of testimony and going through more documents filed in evidence, one observation emerges: several contradictions persist in the account of events concerning central issues. We review it with Boris Proulx, who followed the case from the cold streets of the capital, in February, until the public inquiry which opened in October.
