From August 23 to 28, the 2022 edition of the Angoulême Francophone Film Festival was held. The opportunity to discover certain films in preview, starting with The women of the square, a feature film directed by Julien Rambaldi, the companion of Léa Drucker. This cinematographic work, which will be released in cinemas this Wednesday, November 16, tells the story of Angèle, a young Ivorian woman who, thanks to her chat and her nerve, manages to escape a gang of dangerous thugs then to get hired as a nanny in a chic Parisian district.
Discovering the difficult working conditions of her colleagues, she takes it into her head to defend them with the help of a young lawyer who does not take long to fall under her spell… A character played by the actress Eye Haïdara, who has spoken about her role with the magazine female. “She (Angèle) is quite far from me and I envy certain traits of her personality. I would like to have his chat, his sense of repartee. So when I was given the opportunity to have it, I didn’t go halfway, but greedily, delighting in every scene!“, she thus declared.
We tried everything without success
She notably experienced this shoot, which “started during the second lockdown“, as “a collective adventure“, where “we were all happy to find the trays. We took every day of work as a gift“. A project which was also an opportunity for her to share the screen with Ahmed Sylla, known as a comedian but also as an actor, through his many roles, whether in The Ascension, Turkey or more recently Classico.
He was also expected on the set of Daily this Monday, November 14, alongside Eye Haïdara, to talk about the women of the square, a film in which he precisely embodies the young lawyer coveted by Angèle (played by Eye Haïdara). But he could not get there and explained himself on his Twitter account before apologizing to talk show presenter Yann Barthès. “Unfortunately I was still on set for my next movie. We have tried everything without success. My sincere apologies to the whole team who worked to receive us, I love this film, it deserves to be defended thoroughly. I hope we won’t miss each other next time Yann“.
