The Brazilian club of Palmeiras managed the double by beating Flamengo (2-1), after extra time, in the final of the 62nd Copa Libertadores in history, and won a third crown after its successes in 1999 and 2020, Saturday 27 November at Centenario stadium in Montevideo.
The Sao Paulo club, already titled last year against a Brazilian team, Santos (1-0), becomes the first team to keep its title since the Argentines of Boca Juniors (2000 and 2001). Palmeiras joins Sao Paulo FC, Santos and Gremio in the pantheon of Brazilian teams having won three Copas Libertadores.
Raphael Veiga opened the scoring in the 4th minute and Gabigol equalized for Flamengo in the 72nd, pushing the teams into extra time. It was Deyverson, who entered the game in the 90th minute, who became the new hero of “Verdao” taking advantage of a defensive error in the 94th minute.
