Here’s another excellent value for money wine, with the added benefit of eco-responsible packaging, which dramatically reduces its carbon footprint.

Long associated with low-end wines, viniers and other packaging of this type can nevertheless very well contain quality wines.

This is the case here, with the Coteaux du Pont du Gard 2021, a blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre and Marselan.

The nose, all in fruit, is enticing: it smells of the sun, ripe fruit and scrubland. Aromas of cherry, red apple and blackberries mingle with hints of spice with some leather and violets.

Very dry, it is ample, medium-bodied and above all very fresh. Light tannins add just the right amount of relief and make this a very versatile wine.
