Even if he will have to be sidelined for several months due to a worrying cut on his wrist, Evander Kane is keeping his spirits up. As proof, he remained in Florida after his operation to wait for his teammates, who will face the Panthers on Saturday.

The scene was chilling: after a fall, Kane suffered a cut when the skate of Pat Maroon, of the Tampa Bay Lightning, hit him in the arm. He lost a lot of blood instantly, but was quickly taken care of.
Having to miss three to four months of activities, the striker remains in a good state of mind despite the roller coaster of emotions caused by this kind of injury.
“He’s in good spirits,” head coach Jay Woodcroft said, according to the official National Hockey League (NHL) website. The surgery went well. Everyone seems satisfied with his condition.
“His condition is stabilizing and he will be close to his teammates. He will come back with us when we come back to Edmonton. He is doing well physically and mentally.”
Kane has scored five goals and aided in eight more for 13 points in 14 outings this season. He thus contributed to the good start of the Oilers, who had won eight of their first 14 games before their meeting Thursday against the Hurricanes in Carolina.
