The National Financial Prosecutor’s Office (PNF) opened a preliminary investigation at the beginning of October into the management of the France 2023 public interest group (GIP) in the context of the Rugby World Cup, France Télévisions learned on Wednesday. The investigation, opened for heads of favouritism, influence peddling, corruption and any other related offence, is entrusted to the Paris research section, which is part of the gendarmerie. The opening of the PNF investigation comes a month after the dismissal of Claude Atcher from the general management of the organization of the competition.
