Singer Peter Gabriel will hit the road next May, in support of a brand new album of original songs, his first in 20 years.

The former Genesis frontman will kick off with a 22-date European tour in May and June 2023 — kicking off May 18 in Krakow, Poland. He will thus find on stage his long-time partners, namely bassist Tony Levin, guitarist David Rhodes and drummer Manu Katché.

The tour will continue on this side of the Atlantic in the summer and fall, the concert schedule will be communicated later. These will be Gabriel’s first shows since his North American tour. Rock Paper Scissors in 2016, during which he shared the poster with Sting.

“It’s been a while, but I’m surrounded by a bunch of new songs and I’m excited to be able to take them on the road for another round of singing,” the 72-year-old singer said in a statement. The new disc, titled i/owill therefore arrive more than 20 years after the excellent Uplaunched in September 2002.

In a recent ABC radio interview, given on the occasion of the New York launch of the photographic collection D-eyeproduced by his daughter Anna, Peter Gabriel confirmed that work on the album was almost complete, indicating that he still had to “finish a few details” and that “fresh news would be communicated quickly”.
