In Ukraine, the fear of a general power cut is rising among the population. Flashlights are often necessary for driving at night. The Ukrainian authorities fear a total power cut in the capital kyiv. “We’re doing everything to make sure that doesn’t happen, but let’s be honest, our enemies are doing everything to keep the city without heating”explains Vitaly Klistchko, the mayor of kyiv.

As winter approaches and temperatures are expected to drop below 0°C, the situation could become even more perilous. To avoid a widespread blackout in the capital, residents are subject to restrictions. In the city of Mikolaiv, which is south of kyiv, residents are forced to queue for hot meals since without electricity they are unable to heat their food.
