Elon Musk on Monday called on Americans to vote for the Republican Party in Tuesday’s midterm elections, in the name of balancing executive and legislative power.
“Power sharing limits the worst excesses, so I recommend voting for a Republican Congress, given that the presidency is a Democrat,” the new Twitter boss posted to his 114 million followers.
To independent-minded voters:
Shared power curbs the worst excesses of both parties, therefore I recommend voting for a Republican Congress, given that the Presidency is Democratic.

Mr. Musk clarified that he was addressing “independent-minded voters”, the only ones he believes can swing majorities in Congress.
This vote recommendation from Elon Musk will not fail to fuel concerns among Americans who fear a possible political use of the social network by the billionaire. The boss of Tesla and SpaceX promised that Twitter would remain politically neutral and that all opinions could be expressed there.
The Americans will vote Tuesday for the midterm elections, in order to renew all the seats of the House of Representatives, more than a third of the Senate and about thirty governorships.
Further details will follow.
