The return

The devil’s lot: the conquest of the sea

Five years after smashing an audience record on Historia, this unique reality show is back in action. This time, the 16 participants (10 men and 6 women) plunge into the post-Great Depression universe of the settlers established in Gaspésie, in the hope of winning a grand prize of $100,000. In miserable conditions, they must lay the foundations of a small private fishing establishment by fulfilling the mandates given by Louis Champagne, who plays the inspector of the territory they occupy. Did you miss the first season? Note that it is offered in full on YouTube, through the Historia account.

Historia and Séries Plus, Friday, at 9 p.m.

Blockbuster

Blockbuster

We pinned a lot of hope on Blockbuster, a workplace situation comedy. Largely because we miss Superstore, which we followed with great interest for six great years on NBC (the complete series is also available as a catch-up on Netflix). The premise seemed sympathetic, however: the daily life of the slightly lost employees of the last DVD rental store belonging to the former American giant. Unfortunately, the first episodes are boring more than anything else. But because Superstore also took a while to find its cruising speed, we promised ourselves to watch the first season in full. We cross fingers.

Presumed Innocent: The Michelle Perron Affair

Presumed Innocent: The Michelle Perron Affair

In this documentary series premiered on Crave last year, Marie-Claude Savard and Sébastien Trudel reopen the investigation into the homicide of Michelle Perron, the spouse of Gilles Perron, a director of popular 1980s television shows (One night star, The demons of noon). The scandalous murder (the victim was savagely stabbed in his car in the middle of a snowstorm) fascinated Quebec for a long time. Watching the series, we understand why. Each episode includes such a high number of twists and turns that if it had been fiction, the writers would have been criticized for having buttered it too thick.

The flaw

The flaw

After a half-fig, half-grape second season set in Quebec, author Frédéric Ouellet’s crime thriller (Victor Lessard, The survivors) resumes service, just like its heroine, camped by Isabel Richer. In this third and final lap, Detective Sergeant Céline Trudeau leads a most intimate quest: to discover who brutally murdered her cousin 30 years earlier. The production of the eight episodes was entrusted to Daniel Roby (Louis Cyr, funkytown). Daniel Parent, Sébastien Ricard, Debbie Lynch-White and Jade Charbonneau join the cast. And, yes, Alexandre Landry is back in his police uniform, just to keep our hopes of a Trudeau-Théberge couple alive.
